The warm, wooden interior of Tsukuba Gastroenterology Hospital gently embraces all who enter. Through the extensive use of wood in both its exterior and interior, we have crafted a tranquil space that alleviates the anxiety often associated with hospitals. The low-rise building has an open, non-imposing feel, blending seamlessly into the local landscape. It is an architecture befitting a community healthcare hub dedicated to providing personal care for every patient.

地域医療の中核を担う、環境配慮型の新しい病院が誕生しました。1階をRC造、2階・3階の病棟部分を耐火木造とする混構造を採用し、経済性と工期の短縮を実現。木造ならではの温かみある空間が、患者様やスタッフに安らぎを提供します。地域の皆様に信頼され、これからの医療ニーズに応え続ける、先進的でサステナブルな建築です。

A new, eco-conscious hospital has been established to serve as the core of community healthcare. This project features a hybrid structure—combining a reinforced concrete first floor with fire-resistant wood for the patient wards on the second and third floors—which achieved both cost-effectiveness and a shorter construction period. The unique warmth of the wooden construction provides a tranquil environment for patients and staff alike. This is an advanced, sustainable building, trusted by the local community and designed to meet the healthcare needs of the future.

「ポプラの樹」の名にふさわしく、地域にしっかりと根を張り、人々が集う大樹のような施設を目指しました。木の温もりを随所に活かした明るく開放的な空間は、ご入居者様が安心して自分らしく暮らせる「住まい」そのものです。一人ひとりの尊厳を大切にし、ご家族や地域との繋がりを育む、温もりに満ちた生活の拠点を創造しました。

True to its name, “Poplar Tree,” we designed this facility to be like a great tree firmly rooted in the community—a place where people can gather. The bright, open spaces, filled with the warmth of wood throughout, create a true “home” where residents can live with peace of mind and be themselves. We have created a warm-hearted community hub that honors the dignity of each individual while nurturing connections with family and the local area.

都心の閑静な住宅街に、木の温もりあふれる多機能福祉施設が誕生しました。在来工法を活かした木造建築が、家庭的な雰囲気を醸し出し、ご利用者様と地域の人々が自然に交流できる温かい空間を創出します。ここは、第二の我が家のように安心して過ごせる、地域に開かれたグループホーム。準耐火建築物として、安全性にも最大限配慮しています。

In a quiet residential area of Tokyo, a multi-functional welfare facility full of the warmth of wood has been created. The wooden architecture, utilizing conventional Japanese construction methods, fosters a home-like atmosphere, creating a welcoming space where users and local residents can naturally interact. This is a group home open to the community, where residents can live with peace of mind as if it were their second home. As a quasi-fire-resistant building, maximum consideration has also been given to safety.

都心・文京区という都市型立地において、木造建築の可能性を追求した福祉施設です。低層階を鉄筋コンクリート造、2階から4階の居住部分を木造2×4工法とする混構造を採用。都市の利便性と安全性を確保しながら、木ならではの温もりと安らぎに満ちた居住空間を実現しました。耐火建築物としての高い安全性能も両立させた、新しい都市型福祉施設の形です。

This welfare facility explores the potential of wooden architecture in a prime urban location in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo. We adopted a hybrid structure, with the lower levels made of reinforced concrete and the residential areas from the second to the fourth floors built with 2×4 wood construction. This design provides a warm and tranquil living space, unique to wood, while ensuring the convenience and safety required in a city. It represents a new form of urban welfare facility, successfully combining a comfortable atmosphere with the high safety standards of a fire-resistant building.
